Do you know the physical characteristics of zipper strength?

The strength of the zipper is the most important physical performance index, which determines the scope and durability of the zipper. In the zipper standards around the world, there are clear regulations on the strength of the zipper, which is also the basis for testing the quality of the zipper. Zippers of different specifications and types require different strengths for different purposes. Usually, the zipper supplier will provide references for the specifications and applications of the zipper. The specifications and models of the zipper must meet the requirements for use. The test method of zipper strength is not limited, but the basic strength is usually determined by the following inspection method. Based on these test results, the strength of the zipper suitable for each application can be comprehensively judged.

Chain transverse strength Chain transverse strength

The transverse strength of the chain, or tensile strength, is one of the most basic strength indicators. It measures the ability of the zipper to resist lateral stretch when the zipper is interlocked.

Slide lock retention strength Slide lock retention strength

The slider is self-locked in the middle of the zipper chain, and the zipper teeth are divided into left and right parts. Stretch the left and right parts of the zipper teeth to evaluate the locking strength and resistance of the internal components of the slider.

Lateral strength of separation unit Lateral strength of separation unit

The zipper is locked, and both sides of the zipper separation unit are fixed by the tester fixture. Stretch both sides of the zipper separating device to test its resistance to external force damage.

Top stop strength Top stop strength

Interlock the zipper, and then pull the slider to the highest position. Use a tester to firmly pull the slider to measure the fixing strength of the top stop.

Bottom dead center retention strength bottom dead center retention strength

Pull down the slider to the bottom stop, and then use grip paper to fix both sides of the zipper. Measure the fixing strength of the bottom stop and the resistance of the internal components of the slider.

Shrapnel peel strength

Fix the bottom of the zipper and pull the slider to test the maximum strength required to lock the zipper

Slider pull-out strength Slider pull-out strength

Pull the puller in a direction perpendicular to the slider body until the puller and the slider body separate.
